Our Purpose
Providing a Installation Standard
The VSIB Inc. was established as a direct result of the escalation of vehicle theft in Canada. The rapid increase in demand for security devices to be installed led to many installation facilities being started up with varying standards in order to cash in on the theft problem. Prior to the establishment of the VSIB and the Canadian Equipment and Installation Standards there was no reliable way for consumers to judge the effectiveness of vehicle security devices.

We Have You Covered
IBC developed ULC-S338/98 with a coalition of interested parties, including consumers, insurers, law enforcement representatives, vehicle manufacturers, after-market security system suppliers and the Underwriters’ Laboratories of Canada. The vehicle immobilizer theft deterrent systems listed below are currently recognized by IBC as meeting the requirements of CAN/ULC S338/98; The National Standard of Canada for Automobile Theft Deterrent Equipment and Systems.

We supported the Government of Manitoba's Winnipeg Theft Suppression Strategy and achieved all our goals.
